Pain Relief with Vicodiin’s Active Ingredients

Vicodin is a prescription medication that can be prescribed for severe or chronic pain and the reason that this medication works for pain relief treatment is because of its active ingredients like paracetamol and hydrocodone, because of  Cytochrome P450 2D6, which metabolizes hydrocodone to hydromorphone. The hydrocodone effects are due to the development of substrate norhydrocodone, which is assisted by Cytochrome 3A4. Paracetamol inhibits COX enzymes and the  COX enzymes produce prostaglandins that provoke inflammation and fever. Paracetamol assists in pain decrease by causing serotonergic neurotransmissions to increase. Vicodin reacts in the body similar to the way opioid analgesics work to relieve pain. There are some side effects associated with this prescription medication like with most other synthetic manufactured drugs.  There is also the fact that this can be a highly addicting type of medication. The side effects can include dizziness, dry mouth, unconsciousness jaundice, constipation, excess sweating, itching, hearing loss and bleeding. There can be some other side effects and should not be taken by people that have symptoms of nausea or vomiting.
