Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Explained

Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when there is a disturbance to the median nerve; actually the median nerve runs from the fore arm into the hand. Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when this median nerve becomes pressed against the wrist. The main function of median nerve is it controls the sensation of the palm side of the thumb and the fingers. The symptom of this carpal tunnel syndrome are pain, weakness, or numbness in the wrist, frequent burning , tingling, itchiness in the palm of the hands and fingers, in some patients the fingers become useless and swollen, the persons with the carpal tunnel syndrome may wake up feeling the need to “shake out” the hand or wrist. There are so many causes for this carpal tunnel syndrome to occur they are increased pressure in the median nerve, trauma or injury o the wrist that cause swelling, over activity of pituitary gland, hypothyroidism, rheumatoid arthritis, there may be some mechanical problems even such as problems in wrist joint, work stress, repeated use of vibrating hand tools, development of cyst or tumor in the hand, fluid retention during pregnancy or menopause., or if there is a swelling in the hand.
