Pain Relief with Multidisciplinary Programs

Multi-disciplinary programs are a type of pain relief system that couples several types of pain relief treatments into one program. This can be extremely effective for the person that has chronic pain and rather than only using pain medication, merges this with other pain relieving methods. This will include the pain management specialist, therapy and other methods to reduce the chronic pain.

The combining of pain relief methods and the use of specialist, often also includes a dietician, because some forms of pain can be eased by following a certain type of diet. The family physician is an important part of this plan, as is the pain management specialist and therapist. In cases where the chronic pain is caused by arthritis and other diseases, the neurologist, rheumatologist and orthopedist are also an important part of this equation to ensure that the pain can be decreased.

Beside a diet plan, there can also be biofeedback and non aggressive exercise that are incorporated into the pain multi-disciplinary pain management program. This type of plan does not mean increases in pain medication; this is a combination of methods that can decrease pain without the use of higher dosages of the prescribed medication.
