Causes of phantom pain?

Phantom are usually not observed in all people but seen mostly in peoples who have gone through a surgery to remove other parts of the body like breast, tongue, eyes.
Phantom pain also have good treatments to overcome usually it decreases or gets better for one time treatment in some people but in some people must go repeated medications.

The exact cause of this phantom pain is not clear but studies show that it appears to originate from the spinal cord and the brain.
Many of the doctors say that phantom pain cannot be totally explained but it can be explained to some extent as it occurs as a response to a mixed signal from brain. Usually after amputation the brain and spinal cord lose their signals and try to adjust to this detachment in different way so as to producers triggers in most of the body parts. There are many risk factors given were there are chances of producing this phantom pain they are pain before amputation, stump pain, poor – fitting artificial limb ( using prosthesis in place of limbs)
