Pain Relief for Knee Pain?

Knee pain, which afflicts most people, is commonly caused due to overload on the knees. A regular exercise like walking is recommended, if the pain does not aggravate. Applying ice very effectively provides relief from knee pain, and should be done about 5 times a day by those for whom knee pain has become a serious problem. Common drugs, which are available for over-the-counter use, such as Ibuprofen, can be taken. However, the patient must be careful to take only small doses of such drugs, unless prescribed by a doctor. In cases where swelling is often experienced, keeping the knee in a high position helps to reduce the swelling to a good extent. Some of the situations can be tackled on a long-term basic using home care methods like keeping a knee brace for torn ligaments. Surgery might be necessary for severely affected people, for instance those with grave arthritis. Apart from taking anti-inflammatory drugs, methods like starting regular physical therapies which strengthen the bones and the muscles are efficient. Other techniques for knee pain, especially after injuries, include compression, by a bandage to prevent accumulation of fluids, or diagnosing and treating medical conditions which might underlie apparent knee problems.
