Herniated disc is a vertebra made up a series of connected bones. The main functions of these vertebrae are they act like a strong connective tissue which hold one vertebra with the other and acts like a cushion. This disc is made up of two layers one is the outer layer called “annulus fibrous” and the other center called “nucleus pulpous”.
Pain management of herniated disc is carried out by many of the pain reliefs like analgesics and anti inflammatory drugs and also narcotic drugs in severe cases.
Analgesics are given to control the pain some of the analgesic are aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, etc, and even if you have a pain then the doctor will ask you to try for narcotics drugs for a short time.
There are so many other medications available which also have an anti inflammatory effect. They are corticosteroid medications which are usually given orally or also given by an injection.
The injections are given in cases of severe leg pains which are not controlled by normal medications. While giving these injections one should follow correct instructions and such injections are usually given by an experience doctor. These injections are given into the epidural space. |
