How is Restless Leg Syndrome Diagnosed?

If a patient has had repeated episodes of pain in his legs, and has problem sleeping at night because of increased pain and stiffness, then there are chances that he/she is suffering from the Restless Leg Syndrome. With children, doctors might at first confuse it with other things such as growing up pains, and some might even suggest that these can be mere muscle pulls or lack of adequate calcium and minerals in the body. However, when all things are found to be normal, and there are still repeated incidents of pain, then there is no doubt that the patient is suffering from RLS.
For a person who is suffering from RLS, adequate activity in the legs is very crucial. You might have often seen in a plane how the cabin crew advises people to move their legs, and how school children are made to play in the playground for a little time after they have been made to sit for long hours on their desks. This kind of activity is important to make sure that the legs do not remain inactive, and that they do not have a chance to become stiff. Timely medication is very important to cure this problem.
