Scleroderma disease which is also known as systemic sclerosis is a kind of disease which directly affects the tissues of the body. Major reason of this disease is genetics. It will directly affect skin. Sometimes patches of the skin on the certain areas of body gets thick and hard. Generally we get swelling on the affected area and it totally depends on the severity of this disease and also at what stage the disease is?
There are certain cases in which this disease gets spread to areas like cartilage and tendons. Patients who are having severe Scleroderma may get affected to the internal organs and blood vessels of the body. This is a disease which is sometimes also called as connective tissue disorder. In this case it makes use of antibodies which generally attacks on the harmful elements towards the organism which produces them. To determine the level of this disease one has to check the area which is affected. Even there are other factors also which needs to be considered. Sclerodermas are of two types based on their severity. One is called diffused Scleroderma which starts affecting the skin. In this most commonly the face and the limbs gets affected first. Second category of Scleroderma is called limited which generally affects smaller parts of the skin.
